More than 50 Mechanical Engineering students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) attended a webinar on ‘Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Simulation for Product Design and Optimisation, recently. Organised by the Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) of the faculty, the webinar was conducted by Mr. Law Kok Chung, the sales and application engineer of RF Station Sdn Bhd. Mr. Law, who is also a qualified technical support specialist and certified Abaqus trainer emphasised on the importance of simulation in the field of engineering design based on his experience in design and consultation, technical sales and support, technical training, and project management.
Mr. Law also explained on the fundamental perspectives on simulation during the one-hour webinar. He demonstrated that simulation is virtual testing that complements physical testing based on the principles of mathematics and physics. Engineering graduates are encouraged to equip themselves with STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) knowledge and simulation fundamentals to live up to the engineering challenges in the modern world. At the end of the webinar, the audience was also invited to participate in the upcoming three-hour training session on the introduction of Abaqus by the speaker.
