Dr. Ridzwan Bakar, the advisor of Yayasan University Multimedia (YUM), and also our academic staff from the Faculty of Management (FOM) has been appointed as Advisor for the Ministry of Education (MOE) Initiative No 62 by the Director of Education, State of Perak on 25 January 2022. During the event, Dr. Ridzwan delivered a one-hour talk on education development through waqf and endowment principles, which was attended by more than 60 school principals, the head of the education department, and representatives from the parent-teacher association.
In addition, Dr. Ridzwan also championed an initiative called Waqf Agro Biz together with his team from the local community in Teluk Intan, Perak. The project was launched by YDH Toh Muda Orang Kaya-Kaya Laksamana Raja Mahkota Mejar(K) Dato Dr Meor Redwan Mahayuddin Orang Besar, Jajahan Hilir Perak on 25 January 2022. The project is part of MMU’s contributions to the knowledge transfer programme (KTP) for community development in Perak.
Apart from that, Dr. Ridzwan was also invited as one of the panelists to discuss the role of Islamic social finance and waqf on 26th January 2022. Organised by Sinar Harian, he emphasised the importance of innovations, the need for social disaster management, and how waqf works in the framework in the forum.
