Dr. Ridzwan Bakar, academic staff from the Faculty of Management (FOM) was invited as a guest speaker at the 9th Global Waqf Conference (GWC) 2021 from 1-2 December 2021. Dr. Ridzwan elaborated on the case of the Waqf Smart City of Malaysia, that was mentioned in the recent Pahang’s Budget 2022 and the way forward to the challenging tasks in this virtual conference. He also presented an academic paper pertaining to waqf governance during the second day of the conference.
GWC is a platform for academicians and practitioners to discuss and explore opportunities in waqf. More than 900 participants from 18 countries participated in the conference. In addition, Dr. Ridzwan also participated as one of the speakers at the National Accountants Conference on Islamic Finance, where he elaborated on the interesting points of economic development through waqf commercialization and investment perspective. Hosted by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the event was attended by more than 180 participants, mostly accountants. Dr. Ridzwan Bakar is also the advisor of Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM).
