The Faculty of Business through its Banking and Finance department hosted a webinar on the topic “Digital Transformation in Banking” for MMU academicians and students on 11 October 2021. The session was conducted by Mr. Raof Latiff, the managing director, Group Digital Ecosystem, and CEO of DBS’s Labuan, Malaysia. During the webinar, he shared his experiences about DBS’s digital transformation strategies and programmes.
Mr. Latiff mentioned that changing corporate culture, enabling client-solution centric, and digitizing to the core are three key components of digital transformation. He further highlighted the importance of learning customer journey thinking, with emphasis on providing seamless, easy, and invisible services to clients. Mr. Latiff also shared the digital supply chain, digital ecosystem, real-time application programming interfaces used at DBS with the audience. The talk was then followed by a Q&A session.
The event is chaired by Dr. Lee Pei Ling, a lecturer from the Banking and Finance department of FOB, and it was graced by the presence of Dr. Lye Chun Teck (Dean of FOB), Dr. Ng Tuan Hock (Deputy Dean of Academic and International Relations, FOB), and Dr. Venny Chong Sin Woon (Head of Department, Banking and Finance). The organizer hopes that this sharing session could help to elevate academicians’ and students’ understanding of digital transformation trends in banking, as digitization has become the norm for many industries.
