Prof. Dr. Wong Chee Onn and Mdm. Sy. Nurleyana Wafa , two academic staff from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) participated in Design Day Marathon 2021, recently. The Design Day Marathon is a large-scale design workshop, which was jointly organised by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and many local as well as international design institutions. More than 300 participants registered for the workshop and nearly 30,000 people viewed all webinar sessions of the event.

With its theme ‘Designing a Sustainable Wellbeing’, Prof. Dr. Wong moderated a sharing session and Mdm Sy. Nurleyana Wafa as one of the panels together with Mr. Harith Ridzuan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Green Factory, Malaysia and Ms. Phan Nhat Tram from RMIT University, Australia. The panel shared their experience and research on sustainability, green technology, and mindfulness to create sustainable wellbeing. Their sharing provided insights into current efforts and future possibilities of sustainable wellbeing and how design and technology impact the consumers and the environment. The session was broadcast live on YouTube and other platforms in China.

On top of that, two FCM students namely Kam Zhan Yee and As-Saiyidah Nafisah Binti Halis also participated in the event workshops, guided by tutors from renowned international art schools in creating sustainable designs. Zhan Yee and As-Saiyidah Nafisah were grouped with students from other countries, and Saiyidah’s group emerged as the bronze medal winner in the workshop competition.
