A total of 15 participants from various professional backgrounds attended the first session of the roundtable series to address problems and issues in the field of sustainability (in particular energy), recently. The event was hosted by the Malaysia Sustainable University Campus Network (MYSUN) Multimedia University team. The discussion was facilitated by Ir. Dr. Azlan Abd Aziz from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) and assisted by Dr. Chan Kar Hoong from the Faculty of Business (FOB).
This discussion focused on the sustainable human resource in terms of the characteristics, roles, and positions needed in their understanding of sustainability. More importantly, the MYSUN MMU team managed to gather recommendations in identifying, designing, and proposing strategic and long-term measures in order to align with the need for green resilient sustainable human resource development. Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Tan Kim Geok, team leader of MYSUN MMU kicked off this session by enlightening on the ongoing activities and projects as well as future activities under MYSUN.
All the participants shared their experiences, best practices, and common priorities in their respective institutions. They also discussed the tools and instruments to implement policies and considered challenges as well as steps forward to capacity building of sustainable human resources. In brief, the participants also agreed that a sustainable graduate or workforce is the key to success or to be sustainable in today’s world. They also concurred that sustainable human resources will benefit the company with a lower turnover rate and thus, it contributes to the company’s cost-saving initiative. It was a great and insightful session for everyone.
Well done, MYSUN MMU team!
