A total of 60 participants attended a development workshop on the definition of cyberbullying for the creation anti-cyberbullying act in Malaysia. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the President officiated the opening ceremony of the virtual workshop on 19th August 2021.
MMU was appointed by the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia to conduct research on the anti-cyber bullying laws in July last year. Hence, MMU has taken steps to continue studies and research in this matter and the workshop was one of the important events in achieving the targeted goal. The workshop aimed to outline a uniform definition of the true meaning of cyberbullying, which in turn will be recommended to be a Legislative Proposal to curb this problem in the country.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Mr. Kamarudin Abdul Rani, Secretary of the Control and Compliance Division, Ministry of Communication and Multimedia Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, Vice President of Academic and International Relations; Prof. Ir. Dr. Hairul Azhar Abdul Rashid, Vice President of Research, Industrial Collaborations, and Engagement; Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, the Director of Research Management Centre; Dr. Mohd Fairuz Abd Rahim, Dean of Faculty of Management; Dr. Bahma Sivasubramaniam, Chief Researcher of the Study on the Establishment of the Cyber Anti-Bullying Act in Malaysia, delegates from the ministry, and MMU officials.
