We would like to convey our heartiest congratulations to three teams: Engineering Society with ECOGARD project, University Peer Group with We Share, We Care Project, and S.U.R.F team with SURF project for attaining Project Happiness 2021 Grant under Khind Starfish Foundation, recently. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, MMU President congratulated the winning teams during a virtual meeting with the leaders as well as its members on 6th July 2021.

The first team, ECOGARD led by Lai Yan Feng received a grant of RM5,000 for their prototype of a vertical garden using recyclable plastic bottles. While We Share, We Care team led by Aisha Sakinah received the grant of RM3,000 for their effort in sharing the knowledge and conducting STEM activities with B40 students for ages 10 to 15. Another team was Study Under Real Fun (S.U.R.F) led by Jeffrey Quek Shue Yew attained RM1,988 of the grant to provide lessons to targeted children.

Project Happiness 2021 is an initiative by Khind Starfish Foundation since 2014. It encourages undergraduate students to use their creativity to design projects and to employ innovative techniques that focus on education, helping underprivileged communities, arts & culture, environmental protection, animal welfare, and racial harmony.  There were 153 applications and only 32 teams from 15 varsities were shortlisted to receive the grant.

Also attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED); Puan Sri Kusuma Wati Mohd Daud, Director of Student Affairs Division (STAD); Dr. Lim Way Soong, Director of International Relations Office (IRO), Mdm Hani Suhaila Ramli, Head of University Community Transformation Centre (UCTC), Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmad, Mr Vincent Chan, and other officers.
