FOL Students Bag First Runner-up at RWC-NAMCO Sports Arbitration Mooting Competition 2021

Two students from the Faculty of Law (FOL) namely Jeyaganesh A/L S Ravi and Phiong Xin Yu emerged as the first runner-up in the Grand Final of the RWC-NAMCO Sports Arbitration Mooting Competition (SAMCO 2021) on 13 June 2021. Not only that, the students also were ranked among the top oralists in the general rounds of the competition.

Jointly organised by Namco Management LLP (NAMCO) and Messrs Richard Wee Chambers (RWC), this sports arbitration-based mooting competition serves as an avenue for law students to acquire better understanding of dispute resolution and issues in the sports world. It also gives an opportunity for students to equip themselves with advocacy and research skills as well as critical thinking before they enter the real world of their career.

The competition received participation from different local and international varsities including Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Gujarat National Law University, India, Universitas Brawijaya,Indonesia, and Independent Team, India. The team from Gujarat National Law University emerged as the champion for the competition.
