Mr. Ali Abdullah Banafea, an alumnus from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) shared his expertise and working experience as a Field Service Engineer (FSE) in the healthcare industry, recently. The sharing was part of the virtual technical talk session, which aimed to provide industrial sharing to the current students in the faculty. Mr. Ali, who graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronics majoring in Bio-Instrumentation, is now a Technical Support Specialist at Abbott Diagnostic Division, Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Ali explained his roles and duties as FSE and his personal experience during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. He also emphasised the importance of interpersonal skills in the engineering workplace, where effective communication and flexibility are keys to success working remotely during the pandemic. The one-hour virtual talk was ended with an engaging question and answer session with the audience. It is hoped that the talk session has inspired students’ confidence in engineering education and profession.
