A total of 200 leaders from the public department partook in a workshop titled “Managing in a VUCA World: Thriving with Tech and Thinking Skills” from 19th April until 20th April 2021. This event was jointly organised between the Public Service Department and Cnergy, Multimedia University (MMU). Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU delivered his welcoming remarks to the participants during the first day of the workshop.
In his speech, Prof. Mazliham addressed the need to understand VUCA situations and the role of leaders to re-envision their business. VUCA, which stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, represents set of challenges that individuals, teams, managers, and organisations in any industry will have to face. The participants gained knowledge and rewarding experience in how new skills, approaches and behaviours could help them to manage VUCA threats.
Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, Vice President of Academic and International Relations (VP AIR) shared his insights into Values and Machines for the plenary talk. The workshop also was conducted by MMU experts namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gerald Goh Guan Gan, Director of Strategy and Quality Assurance (SQA); Dr. Lim Tek Yong, Senior Lecturer & Design Thinking Practitioner; Prof. Dr. Lau Siong Hoe, Dean of Faculty of Information Science and Technology and Dr. Timothy Yap, lecturer.
