On 9 September 2020, Multimedia University (MMU) and 6Biz Sdn Bhd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Cyberjaya campus in an effort to initiate collaboration on increasing data science and analytics awareness among MMU community. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the President of MMU, and Dato’ Yap Mee Ling, the Founding Chairman of 6Biz Sdn Bhd.
6Biz Sdn Bhd is an HRDF-registered training provider aiming to match the right data-centric talents for businesses so that more informed and dynamics organisation surface in Malaysia and also a proponent of artificial intelligence-backed software curation providing a platform for professionals and businesses to automate their business operations. Through this collaboration, 6Biz Sdn Bhd and MMU aim to work together to further talent and career development and cutting edge research as well as develop strong industrial linkages, especially in Big Data, data science, and analytics.
One of the initiatives discussed is the offering of the Certified Data Professional in Open-source Software (CDPOS™) courses to our students by 6Biz Academy. CDPOS™ is an international Skills Certification designed specifically for Open-source Software and is designed for certifying data literacy. This will allow our students to be prepared for role-based and tool-based certifications as a data professional in open-source software. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dato’ Ong Meng Gee, the Managing Director of 6Biz Sdn. Bhd and and Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, the Vice-President (Academic and Internationalisation). Also present were Dr. Goh Hui Ngo, the Dean of Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), Dr. Timothy Yap Tzen Vun, FCI lecturer, and officials from 6Biz Sdn Bhd and ACCA.
