A group of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) International Business (IB) from the Faculty of Business (FOB) did not miss their chance to gain more insights from industrial speakers despite the Movement Control Order (MCO). An hour virtual talk entitled “The Protection of the Intellectual Property” was delivered by Ms. Nuratul Fakriah Binti Abdul Talib, Legal and IP Services Officer at Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Malaysia recently. Ms.Nuratul is actively working and collaborating with international broadcaster’s union and WIPO to protect the Asia-Pacific broadcasters’ intellectual property rights at the national and international levels.
Through the talk, the students were enlightened to the real problem situation and its solution to overcome any issues related to patent, trademark, copyright, industrial design, and geographical indications. The students also understood on the role of intellectual property systems in balancing the interests of innovators and the public interest as well as providing an environment for creativity and invention to be flourished for the benefit of all especially dealing with commercial businesses with international parties. Also present during the talk were Ms. Anushia A/P Chelvarayan, the Head of Department of International Business to welcome the speaker, and Ms Nazrul ‘Aini Abenoh, the organiser of the session.
