From 9 to 13 February 2020, the third and final phase of the International Deans’ Course – Malaysian Chapter (MyIDC) programme was held at Tan’Yaa Hotel Cyberjaya, Selangor. The participants included 24 Deans/Deputy Deans/Directors/Deputy Directors of faculties/academic centres from 19 Malaysian universities. From Multimedia University (MMU), Professor Dr. Ong Duu Sheng (Faculty of Engineering), Associate Professor Dr. Koo Ah Choo (Faculty of Creative Multimedia), and Dr Ong Sue Lyn (Faculty of Applied Communication) took part in the programme.

In the third phase of MyIDC (MyIDC Part 3), participants were drawn into topics such as Research Management, Internationalisation, Leadership Values, and Psychosocial Profiling for Effective People Management. The main highlight of the MyIDC programme was the Project Action Plan (PAP). Initiated during the first phase, all 24 participants finally presented their PAPs during the special Colloquium held on 13 February 2020.

Several invited VIP guests attended the Colloquium, among them were Professor Dr. Abdul Rahim Abdul Rahman (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia), Professor Dr. Faidz Abd Rahman (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman), Professor Dr. Kamarul Shukri Mat Teh (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin), Professor Dr. Mohd Rafi Yaacob (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Universiti Malaysia Kelantan), and Mr Brian Trenaman (Director of DAAD Information Centre Kuala Lumpur).

Returning again to Malaysia for MyIDC Part 3, Master Trainer Professor Dr. Peter Mayer (Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, Germany) who conducted the module on Internationalisation was happy that all participants were able to complete the PAPs and he liked the idea of well-organised posters. Professor Dr. Haslinda Yussof, the Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies (IPSis) Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) perceives MyIDC as a platform for unleashing potentials towards creating excellent university leaders. Having gained much knowledge and in-sights from various trainers, Professor Dr. Anjas Asmara Samsudin, Universiti Putra Malaysia is convinced that MyIDC has achieved its main objective to unlock the secret of becoming a great leader in an organisation.
