Dr. Wendy Teoh Ming Yen, Dr. Zakiah Melatu Samsi, and Dr. Gan Chin Lay from the Faculty of Business (FOB) were invited to conduct a talk to a group of senior executives from Infineon Technologies Melaka. This talk was an initiative undertaken by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Way Soong from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET). The presentation focused on two major industry themes – “The Readiness of the Electrical and Electronics (E&E) Industry for Industrial 4.0” and “Nurturing Young Engineers for the Future”. Among those who attended were Mr. Lee Chee Hong, the President & Managing Director of Infineon Technologies Melaka, alongside several senior directors and managers of the company.
The talk aimed to provide key insights on the main benefits and challenges of Industry 4.0 adoption in the E&E industry, and how the industry can attract and retain young engineers in response to these challenges. The participants were introduced to key trends and strategies to drive the growth of the E&E industry in Malaysia, such as the adoption of emerging technologies and improvements in employee advocacy approaches. In acknowledging the competitive challenges facing human resources management, strategies on how organizations can improve the engagement and retention of young talents, in particular, the millennial and generation Z engineers, were shared.
