Multimedia University (MMU) through its Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) hosted Asean Digital Cinema Production Workshop 2019 in Cyberjaya recently. The event was jointly organised with Unijapan and Tokyo University of Arts. A total of 18 students from ASEAN countries participated in this six-day programme together with five students from Multimedia University (MMU) representing Malaysia namely Sin Weng Keong, Vishunu Haredas, Abdul Hakeem Syful Irwardy, Yuveshini a/p |Parthipan and Nur Kayreen Annisa Binti Khairil Anuar.
The workshop aimed to dispatch front-line Japanese experts in the field of cinema in Malaysia through practical workshops based on the educational curriculum developed in Japan. The opening ceremony was enlivened by the presence of Chairman of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), Datuk Hans Isaac. Also attended the event was Dr. Lim Kok Yoong, the Deputy Dean of Academic and Internationalisation in FCM.
This international workshop served as a platform for young aspiring filmmakers to experience the skill levels of Japan’s top filmmakers. The event was managed by Associate Professor Shogo Yokohama from Tokyo University of Arts; Kiyomin Nakazaki from Unijapan; James Teo Chin Hao and Syakira Anis Sabrudin from FCM.
