A total of 24 representatives from 19 Malaysian universities attended the second of a three-phase International Deans’ Course – Malaysian Chapter (MyIDC) programme at the Imperial Heritage Hotel, Melaka recently. This programme is jointly organised by Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT), in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), and Multimedia University (MMU), and with the support from Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES), and National Multiplication Trainings (NMT).
In the second phase of MyIDC, topics such as Communication, Conflict Management, and Human Resource and Talent Management were the highlights of the programme. Individual Project Action Plan (PAP) which was initiated during the first phase were also reviewed during this programme. The participants will continue to work on the PAP before it is finally presented at a colloquium during the third phase of the training programme in February 2020 at AKEPT.
Professor Dr. Maria Flordeliza L. Anastacio, the Vice President and Dean of Studies of Centro Escolar University (CEU) Malolos, Philippines showcased her area of expertise regarding Financial and Human Resource Management. Drawing from her own experience in running a private institution, she showed the participants, CEU’s management strategies which rely on the concept of Quality People Quality University. A trainer and organiser of this programme, Professor Dr. Ong Duu Sheng, from MMU stressed that the programme is deemed successful if a positive change in the attitude and behaviour can be seen. Similarly, Professor Dr. Andanastuti Mucktar, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, UKM noticed the participants were more relax and trusted each other in this second part of the programme.
