On 4 November 2019, the Alliance of Government-Linked Universities (GLU), comprising of Multimedia University (MMU), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) organised a GLU Management Forum 2019 at the Pulse Grande Hotel, Precinct 1, Putrajaya.
With its theme, ‘GLU Leading towards Industry Intimacy 2.0’, the forum was officiated by Deputy Secretary General of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Mohd. Azhar Hassan. It served as a platform for knowledge-sharing, networking, and exchanging of ideas and best practices between GLU Top Management and Industry captains, as well as for exploring the possibilities of creating synergy between participants.
Vice Chancellor of UTP and the Chairman of the Alliance of GLU, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib together with Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq (President/CEO, MMU); Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Kamal Nasharuddin Mustapha, (Vice Chancellor, UNITEN); and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd. Su’ud (President/CEO UniKL) attended the forum.
MMU Pro-Chancellor, Academician Professor Tan Sri Dr. Zakri Abdul Hamid shared his insight in the Academic-Industry Forum on the topic, ‘Is University a Landing Pad for Industry Innovation?’ Aside from that, Prof. Rafi concluded the session in the Roundtable Session Key Takeaway at the end of the programme. Prior to that, Prof. Ts. Dr. Neo Mai, the Director, Academic Development for Excellence in Programme and Teaching (ADEPT) MMU, played a role as a moderator in discussing a topic ‘Teaching and Learning: Designing and Delivering Future Industry Curricular.’
The inaugural GLU Management Forum was held in 2016. Thus, this year’s event was the fourth one. During the forum, the participants and industry leaders shared their experiences, wisdom, and lessons learned on strategies and initiatives in supporting and spearheading the National Higher Education Agenda.
