Mr. Chong Peng Lean, an academician from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) won the Overall Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Smart Community & Industry (ICSCI 2019). Mr. Chong’s paper entitled, “Converting Living Plants into a Battery to Power a Wireless Device” was presented in 20 minutes during the conference. There were 44 registered presenters which consisted of academic and industry researchers. Mr. Chong’s research is supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh (MMU) and co-supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kok Swee Leong (UteM).
The event was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel Melaka from 16 until 18 October 2019. The conference was co-organised by the Melaka state government, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Infineon Technologies (M) Sdn. Bhd., Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Malaysia Network. A series of workshops, parallel presentation sessions, poster presentations and round-table discussions were conducted during the two-day conference.
