A group of Multimedia University (MMU) students involved with a programme with Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Dato Demang Hussin in Melaka recently. The students painted a few sections in the school’s area as part of their Personal Social Responsibility (PSR) activity. The activity aimed to expose students to the values and practical knowledge of PSR through their engagement with community culture and environment and to improve students ‘soft skills in group work, communication, socio-cultural ethics, and cognitive development. The students, with assistance from school teachers, painted and beautified the staircases and walls at one of the main buildings in the school. Through this activity, the students learned how to plan activities as well as conveyed simple senses of happiness and satisfaction.
Apart from that, 56 final year students from the Faculty of Business (FOB), who are currently taking BSH3044-Occupational Safety and Health subject attended a short training organised by MMU-Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) unit at Melaka campus. The training was conducted by Mr. Joharie Mukhtar, MMU’s own OSHE officer from Cyberjaya and assisted by Ms. Haniza Hashim. The objective of the training was to equip the future graduates towards “hands-on” approach on the usage of fire extinguisher and fire hydrant. This practical activity was another platform for students to gain new insights on what actions to be expected in a real situation.
Furthermore, a total of 26 local and international students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) visited Seri Perdana in Putrajaya recently. The objective of the visit was to enable the students to gain exposure on the complex which serves as the venue for official state functions and banquets to welcome heads of state, heads of government, state dignitaries and the public. The students had the opportunity to witness the combination of Malay, Islamic and French architectural, landscape and design heritage. They were also briefed on the job opportunities and its process before getting a placement in Seri Perdana through Suruhan Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA), which encourages the students to apply for their future career.
