The Faculty of Business (FOB) and its strategic partner, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) had jointly hosted ACCA-MMU Inter-School Accounting Quiz (AMISAQ) for the first time in Melaka campus recently. The quiz was participated by 216 students from 29 secondary schools from Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan. The participants were required to compete in three rounds; Qualifying round, Semi-final round and Final round.
The quiz aims to test the understanding and general knowledge of the accounting students and to build a network among schools, university and professional body. The competition also encouraged a healthy competitive spirit among the participants. During the event, they also had the opportunity to listen to a talk by Mr. Azizi Samsudin, Head of Accounting of FOB as well as Mr. Peter Gabriel, Manager of Business Development of ACCA on the pathway to become a chartered accountant and the high potential in the accounting profession.
As a result, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tinggi Batu Pahat, Johor emerged as the champion, defeating Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Yok Bin, Melaka who came in the second place. SMK (P) Sultan Abu Bakar, Muar won third place followed by SMJK Pei Hwa, Tangkak in the fourth place. The winning teams brought home cash prize of RM1,500, RM1,200, RM800 and RM500 respectively and certificate of achievement for each member of the team. Also present during the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gerald Goh Guan Gan, the Dean of FOB and Mr. Ang Wen How, Senior Manager of Learning Support from ACCA.
