We are delighted to share that Mr. Ghazi Alqudcy, a lecturer from the Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA) was invited to present his feature film, ‘Temporary Visa’ at the prestigious Singapore International Festival of Arts recently. The festival featured many great names such as Tsai Ming-Liang (filmmaker), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Composer), Khavn Dela Cruz (Filmmaker), Ho Tzu Nyen (Visual Artist) and others.
Temporary Visa is a film about love and deportation. The lead character, Jakub, is having trouble for overstaying in Bosnia and is faced with the possibility of being deported if he does not obtain a temporary visa within five days. To apply for one, however, requires money that he does not have. Opportunities for easy cash are there but are risky. Jakub resists these temptations until he realizes that everyone – including his girlfriend Emira who is stealing money from work to continue school – is doing what they have to do to survive. Under such circumstances, Jakub begins to grasp the true cost of this cross-border relationship. Temporary Visa is co-production between Bosnia Herzegovina and Singapore. It is entirely shot in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina.
