The Faculty of Management (FOM) received a visit from the Transparency International Cambodia delegates, which is part of Youth and Women in Leadership Programme (YWLP) recently. MMU is privileged to be the only Malaysian university visited by YWLP whereby the programme aims to increase the knowledge of women and youth on accountability, transparency, democratic governance and the importance of civic participation, and to build the capacity of women and youth to engage in the decision making process.
The event started with the opening remarks by Dr. Mariati Norhashim, Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation, FOM and Senior Programme Officer of YWLP; Ms. Yang Leaphea. Association Women Laywers (AWL) representative, Mdm. Aisha Zanariah Abdullah shared her organisation’s experience in increasing awareness on gender equality in Malaysia. Mdm. Indah Sidek, Director of the International Relations office provided an insight into the establishment of MMU and existing programme offered by the university.
In addition, MMU Student Representative Council (SRC) executive committee members were invited to share their knowledge and experiences as Malaysian youths in general, and students of MMU in particular. As part of the Knowledge Transfer Programme requested by YWLP, Dr. Yvonne Lee of FOM presented on the State of Youth and Gender Equality in Malaysia. The delegates were given a quick tour of the MMU Cyberjaya campus, including the Siti Hasmah Digital Library and the lecture halls and the event ended with a delightful dinner provided by the host.
