On 3 May 2019, Multimedia University (MMU) exchanged two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Celcom Axiata Berhad and SME Corporation Malaysia during the closing ceremony of International E-Business & Entrepreneurship Idea Showcase 2019 (eBes 2019). eBes 2019 was organised by Faculty of Business and Entrepreneur Development Centre (EDC) in collaboration with Celcom Axiata and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
The MoU between MMU and SME Corp. Malaysia is to establish a cooperation between two parties in the development and promotion of both academic research and to enhance the entrepreneurial development in Malaysia. SME Corp. Malaysia, the central coordinating agency (CCA) under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development Malaysia (MED) also agreed to enhance the entrepreneur development in MMU.
Meanwhile, the MoU between MMU and Celcom is to encourage and promote cooperation in developing siswapreneur through its KPM-Celcom Siswapreneur Programme. It will enhance students’ entrepreneurship mindsets, skills and talents through several initiatives such as Siswacart and SiswaMall. Pursuant to the MoU, two workshops namely Celcom Siswapreneur Workshop and MDEC E-Usahawan workshop which were attended by 300 students.
Prof. Ir. Dr. Hairul Azhar Abdul Rashid, the Vice President of Research and Innovation (R&I) represented MMU to exchange the documents with representatives from both companies; En. Rizal Nainy, the Deputy CEO (1) of SME Corp. and En. Areehan Hj Abdullah, Head, Government Liaison of Celcom. Also present during the ceremony were Pn. Nor Hidayaty Mohd Nor, Director of SME Corp. Melaka, En. Roshaidi Rosli, Senior Manager of SME Corp. Malaysia, Dr. Mohd Rizal Abdul Razak, Campus Director and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Goh Guan Gan, the Dean of FOB.
