On 7 May 2019, Multimedia University (MMU) through its Faculty of Law (FOL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC). Through the MoU, both parties will work together in sharing knowledge and exposure with a focus on internship programmes; organising and hosting joint conferences workshops, seminars, forums, or short courses; and developing research cooperation on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Arbitration and Mediation.
The MoU was signed by the President of MMU, Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Rafi Bin Mohamed Ehsaq and Head of Legal Services of AIAC, Dr. Harald Sippel. It was witnessed by Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, the Vice President of Academic and Internationalisation and Mdm. Diana Sulamazra Tan Sri Abdul Rahman, Case Counsel from AIAC and representatives from FOL.
Other than that, MMU also sealed another MoU with SIRIM Tech Venture Sdn. Bhd. (STV) in collaborating in the area of technology innovation and business commercialisation as well as exchanging of technical experts. Signing on behalf of MMU was Prof. Ir. Dr. Hairul Azhar Abdul Rashid, the Vice President of Research and Innovation (R&I) with Mr. Ajmain Kasim, the Chief Executive Officer of STV at the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Kuala Lumpur.
The pact seeks to provide MMU with first-hand knowledge of high technology readiness for business commercialisation. It will also enable the transfer of technologies and joint development of new technologies and services for both parties. The ongoing collaborative programme between MMU and STV are commercialization workshop, funding advisory and research proposal submission.
