On 4th May 2019, Multimedia University was honoured with the winnings at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2019 by our very own startups and spin-offs at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). This was the third year that the Startup Showcase was introduced as one of the categories in the competition.
Poltechcare Sdn Bhd, Founder Dr. A.S.M Mukter-uz-Zaman (FOE), won a gold medal in the Best of the Best Startup Category, making it three consecutive years for MMU to bag this award via spin-off ventures. The Best of the Best Startup Category award was first introduced in ITEX competition in 2017, when iCycle, Founder: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Chin Seong (FOE) won the award and Uthosys, Founder: Dr. Ooi Chee Pun, in 2018.
MMU made another breakthrough when its spin-off Nura Food Innovation Enterprise, Founder: Ms. Nurbani Md Hassan (FOM), a social enterprise of premixed food micro franchising for B40 won a gold medal in a technology-centric competition like ITEX. Another entry was iSparks, Founder: Mr Cheong Soon Nyean (FOE) who bagged the silver medal.
We are very proud of the effort and recognition earned by our startups/spin-offs which makes MMU more renowned as an Entrepreneurial University. We wish all the startups greater success in all their endeavours and hope their achievements will inspire others to explore the world of entrepreneurship.
