Three prominent alumni from the Faculty of Management (FOM) shared their entrepreneurship journey with more than 60 students in Cyberjaya campus. They were Ms Nurulhuda Qmaruz Zaman (Founder, Brown Butter Cakes), Mr Mohd Louai Sarhan (Founder, QuickC) and Mr Justin Wong Zi Ning (Founder, Sprintla Sdn Bhd). Organised by FOM Alumni committee and supported by Centre for Alumni (CFA), the event began with the welcoming remark delivered by Dr. Ong Jeen Wei, Deputy Dean of Staff and Student Affairs, FOM.
Entrepreneurship can be a tough path for entrepreneurs who worked in a competitive business environment. Brown Butter Bakes was established in 2012 that offers a selection of tasty desserts solution; QuickC was the first car rental application in Cyberjaya where car renting service can be booked directly through mobile phone; and Sprintla helped to print document anytime and anywhere from the advancement of technology. The students gained valuable insights about the challenges of being an entrepreneur as well as to cultivate their entrepreneurial aspiration to start and grow and business in future.
Furthermore, the Faculty of Engineering also hosted a session “Your Future is Our Mission” event in equipping the students, who will be graduating soon, with career-boosting tips and strategies in MMU Cyberjaya recently. Supported by Centre for Alumni (CFA), the event line up included a presentation by Dr. Tan Yi Fei, the Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation on the programmes, scholarships, and other opportunities offered by the university. The students were also highlighted on the career development by Mr Bakhtiar Hasnan and a short workshop on how to prepare a perfect CV with Ir. Siva Priya Thiagarajah.
Mr. K. K. Kong, the Managing Director of MAQo Solat Technologies which is also one of the FOE alumni delivered a talk on renewable energy as well as the current and future status of the green technology. He also talked about potential career paths and opportunities in the solar industry in Malaysia. There were also companies present to conduct sharing sessions and walk-in interviews. Last but not least, another one of our alumni, Mr. Teh Chin Biau and his colleague from Experior Technology shared the future workforce opportunities for students. It is hoped that the students obtained useful knowledge and skills for their working preparation.
