Multimedia University (MMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in Kuala Lumpur recently. The three-year agreement provides an ideal learning pathway for MMU students to pursue the CIMA professional qualification while pursuing their diploma, bachelor’s degree or master’s degree through CIMA A-Star programme as well as the conventional programme.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, the President of MMU and Ginny Lim, Head of Southeast Asia of The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (The Association) and witnessed by Prof. Dr. Saravanan Muthaiyah, from Faculty of Management (FOM) MMU and Rushdan Rozlan, the Malaysia Business Development Manager of The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (The Association). Also present Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, the Vice President (Academic & Internationalisation), MMU.

The accelerated pathway for certification to MMU students is another international recognition for our university and our accounting programme. CIMA has recently celebrated the first batch of CIMA A-Star programme students globally, who are based in Malaysia and had a 75% passing rate which also scored high marks above the benchmark. MMU students would definitely contribute to the growing number and eventually increase the number of finance professionals in Malaysia.

The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (The Association) is the unified voice of both CIMA and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) representing 667,000 members and students in public and management accounting in 184 countries across the globe.
