A total of 274 students attended the Accounting Student Conference 2019 at Melaka campus recently. Hosted by Faculty of Business (FOB) and the CPA Australia Student Charter MMU Melaka, the conference aims to update students with the latest changes in the accounting field, to provide students with a better image of real world’s accounting related job, and to expose CPA Australia Student Charter to the students.
With its theme ‘Thriving in the Age of Disruption’, the conference witnessed several prominent speakers namely Mr. Benedict Francis from Partner and Southern Region Leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers to share his insights on Sales and Service Tax, Mr Billy Low from Ernst & Young to expound on the artificial intelligence.
Apart from that, experienced industry practitioners; Mr Piong Yew Peng partner from Crowe Malaysia PLT, Mr. Joseph Joshua Ishvar from Grant Thornton Malaysia, Miss Judy Lim and Mr. Gabriel Wong from Ernst & Young have also been invited to be the mentors to the participants of the conference. The conference was also invigorated by the presence and support from FOB’s Dean, Assoc. Prof. Gerald Goh, Deputy Dean of Academic and Internationalisation, Dr Tan Pei Kian, the Head of Accounting unit Mr Azizi bin Samsudin as well as the advisors; Dr Yip Yen Yen and Dr Lim Ying Zhee.
