Three lecturers from the Faculty of Law (FOL), Mr Tay Eng Siang, Ms Kuek Chee Ying and Mr Mohamad Hafiz Hassan were invited to present their papers on foreign ownership of land in Malaysia, company law in Malaysia and court system in Malaysia at the China-ASEAN Civil and Commercial Law Forum 2018 recently. The forum was hosted by the Guangxi University for Nationalities (GXUN), Nanning in Guangxi, China.
Representatives from China and ASEAN countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam congregated and presented the civil and commercial laws of their respective country in a friendly, practical and constructive atmosphere. During the Forum, presenters shared and exchanged knowledge of the laws, laying down a foundation for enhancing and deepening understanding and cooperation among China and ASEAN member countries. The lecturers were also honoured with a dinner hosted by officers from the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. At the dinner, both hosts and guests exchanged views on their respective areas of expertise.
