A total of 140 students from the Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC) attended the Youth Symposium 2018 at E-Theatre, Cyberjaya campus recently. With its theme ‘Nurturing Values and Building Legacies in Communication’, the symposium is made together leading communication practitioners from both academia and industry to share insights on the importance of encouraging good values in today’s society in order to build lasting legacies.

The first speaker was Miss Liz Kamaruddin, the Managing Director in Strategic Communications and FTI Consulting, who gave a talk on “Perception vs Reality: Where are we heading too…”,that includes about social media alters our perception on certain topics or events. The next speaker was Mr Kenneth Chung from Ministry of Education (MOE) who delivered on how the MOE is trying to change to be different than what it is used to be.

The last speaker was Mr Chong Chuan Yit, the Head of Humanistic Cultural Development for the Tzu Chi Foundation enlightened the audience on activities and accomplishments of Tzu Chi Foundation and their efforts to capture more kindness in people. He also emphasised on capturing the positive sides in order to instil good values to society. The Youth Symposium 2018 also witnessed the presentations from the FAC students including the Internship presentation, Final Year Capstone Project, educational trips as well as voluntary activities. Also attended the symposium were Dr Wei Hui Suan, the Deputy Dean of FAC and faculty members.
