We are proud to announce that Reno4U which represented Multimedia Univesity (MMU) bagged first runner-up at the International Young Social Entrepreneurs Competition (IYSEC) 2018 on 6 December 2018. The competition was organised by the Faculty of Business (FOB) with strategic partner, ICAEW and supported by MaGIC at MMU Melaka campus. On top of that, the MMU team also received two special awards; Best Business Pitch and Technopreneur at the same competition.
IYSEC aims to encourage students to come out with feasible business ideas that can be beneficial to society to solve real-life problems. The preliminary round is divided into two categories, closed category for MMU students and an open category for external universities, where participants are to submit their business proposal and a video presentation online by the end of October 2018.
A total of 92 teams submitted their business proposal in the preliminary round, of which, 20 teams were selected for the Final Round to compete through pitching in front of the judges. The panel of distinguished judges was from ICAEW, MaGIC, AIST Sdn. Bhd., YOUTHSTODAY and Plus Solar Systems Sdn Bhd. The finalists were 10 teams from MMU, 2 teams from UiTM Terengganu, 6 teams from KDU Penang, 1 team each from Mercu Buana University, Indonesia and Silpakorn University, Thailand. As a result, Trigona Honey for Hope (UiTM Terengganu) emerged as the Champion and was also awarded the Sustainability & Social Entrepreneur while Beads It (KDU Penang) won the second runner-up at the competition.
