A total of 166 accounting students from second and third year of Faculty of Business (FOB) attended a career talk conducted by KPMG and FOB’s lecturers recently. KPMG is a global professional service company that provides audit, tax and advisory services across a wide range of industries in Malaysia. The talk which entitled “Successful securing that 1st job” by Mr. Christopher Arumugam, who has a vast experience in the human resource field, shared on what it takes to successfully secure a job.

The talk has been immensely valuable in preparing the students before entering into the reality of getting a job placement with introducing the skills of writing a resume and attending interviews. Besides that, it also presented the overview of KPMG that offers a developing career path in various department that cater for accounting graduates today.

At the end of the talk, the speaker emphasised on the importance of creating the selling skills in both of resume and interview that could distinguish a person among others. The talk session received warm response and positive feedback from the participating students. Thus, FOB will continue to produce graduates that not only educationally equipped but also physically and mentally prepared to enter the competitive job market.
