Continuing from its success last year, ADEPT recently organised its two-day event aimed at cultivating innovative teaching and learning strategies. The event was co-hosted and co-sponsored with Prof. Dr. Neo Tse Kian of the Digital Education Research Institute IDEAL and attended by delegates of our GLU Education partners, Dr. Thaharah Hilaluddin and team from UNITEN, Tn. Hj. Roslan Yahya and team from UniKL and the team from UTP. The event was officiated by Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, Vice President of Academic and Internationalisation.
The event was enlivened by the presence of three outstanding speakers; Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Amin Embi (UKM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alyani Ismail (UPM), and Dr. Vorasuang (Michael) Duangchinda (Sripatum University, Thailand). Roundtable discussions that continued with the speakers in the afternoon were very productive and insightful. Participants enjoyed the in depth discussion with the speakers on various teaching and learning topics.
During the second day of the event, 6 superb trainers on innovations in teaching namely; Prof. Dato’ Dr. Amin Embi, Dr. Michael, Prof. Dr. Khairiyah Mohd. Yusof & Dr. Syed Helmi (UTM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurhayati Mellon (UTP), and Mr. Steven Sutantro (Google Trainer, Indonesia) conducted parallel workshops with the participants from MMU, UTP, UNITEN and UniKL, who learnt about Heutagogy, Alternative Assessments, Gamification with G-Suited for Education, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Active Learning, and Technology-Enhanced Learning Tools.
The event came to a close with the invited speakers and trainers congratulating ADEPT on conducting a wonderful symposium & workshop, whilst participants indicated they enjoyed the event and they are looking forward to next year’s i-TEACH Symposium & Workshop.
