We are proud to announce that two of Faculty of Engineering (FOE) students; Yeoh Poay Zheng and Siva Kumaaran A/L Palanisamy led by a Senior Lecturer, Dr Lee Lini won the 1st Runner-Up under the category of Silterra/CEDEC Track at Innovate Malaysia Design Competition (IMDC) 2018 on 9th July 2018. Their project entitled ‘Low Power CIC Filter of Delta-Sigma ADC in IoT Applications Using 0.13um CMOS Technology’ bagged RM 2500 cash prize and a Multi Project Wafer (MPW) voucher worth RM30,000.
IMDC 2018 is the largest design competition in Malaysia which aims to promote innovative culture in engineering design work as well as tackle real-world problems with practical engineering solutions. The competition is co-organised with technology companies including Google, Intel, Keysight, MathWorks, Microsoft, SAS, Silterra and Solidworks.
A total of 40 teams of university engineering and computer science students presented their inventions and innovations at the grand finale of the IMDC 2018 held at MaGIC, Cyberjaya. The teams were shortlisted from a total of approximately 250 team entries that came from public and private universities. Winners were chosen from eight different industry categories after presenting their innovations earlier to the judging panel. The event was also enlivened by the presence of the Education Minister, Dr Maszlee Malik.
