We are proud to announce that Multimedia University (MMU) emerged as the Most Entrepreneurial Private University for 2017 and Top 8 Most Entrepreneurial University in Malaysia in the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Entrepreneurial Award 2017 (MEA 2017) on 13 April 2018.
It is commendable for MMU to be shortlisted since MMU is the only private university that made to the Top 8 Most Entrepreneurial University in Malaysia. The 3 finalists selected to proceed to the next stage are Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
According to EDC Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman Ab. Aziz, our presence was also felt in two other categories – Outstanding Student Enterprise Award and Outstanding Graduate Enterprise Award. MMU Startup Scheme recipient Jimmy Yeap Thye Liang (FOE) with his venture WeCare Mobile Sdn. Bhd. and alumnus Tai Zi Kang (FOB) with his venture FitGear Global Sdn. Bhd. were both shortlisted as the top 10 finalists for the final stage of their respective categories. All results will be released later this year.
Unlike the previous years, the ministry has decided not to segregate public and private universities. MEA 2017 is an improvement from MEA 2016, as MMU not only participated in the Institutional Award Category, but also participated in other categories namely Outstanding Student Enterprise Award; Outstanding Graduate Enterprise Award; Outstanding Entrepreneurship Mentor Award, and Outstanding Student Social Entrepreneurship Award.
