On 18th May 2018, Faculty of Business organised a one-day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Melaka for the international exchange students from Kanagawa University, Japan. This initiative aims to provide an opportunity for international students to acquire knowledge and understand local history, heritage and culture as well as to strengthen the intercultural relationship.
The students were exposed to the batik creation and painting at GM Choo’s Art Gallery, which is one of the most popular art galleries among tourists and enthusiasts. They also visited Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum, the three-terrace building with unique interior decoration influenced by colonial like Dutch, Portuguese with Malay elements.
The exchange students also visited some of the popular tourist spots such as the Stadthuys, A’Famosa Fort, St. Paul’s Hill, the Melaka River, and neighbouring museums. They were very contented with the different cultures and views as well as knowledge input that they have gained. The cultural trip was led by Dr. Tan Pei Kian (Deputy Dean, Academic and Internationalisation) and Mr. Tan Gek Siang (International Student Exchange Programme Coordinator).
