On 21st February 2018, 5 groups of students from Faculty of Management (FOM) presented their final case regarding Global Business Services (GBS). This new elective subject is targeted to third and final year of accounting students and there were 23 students registered for this subject. For this subject, they were attached to 5 GBS firms which were IBM KL Regional Accounting Centre, IBM Global Delivery Centre, AMD Global Services, Kimberly Clark Regional Services and Conduent Business Services.
The objective of the course is to enable students to have an understanding on GBS and its related concepts. The lectures were conducted by the industrial experts, and they shared the true picture of working culture in their organisations. This course, which is supported by MDEC also encapsulated trending issues on governance and reporting, project management, change management and risk management in four main services which included finance and accounting, human resource, information technology and Big Data Analytics.
At the end of the course, the companies prepared cases for the students to deliberate and came up with recommendations and possible solutions. The presentations were attended by Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin bin Ismail, Vice President of Academic and Internationalisation, representatives from the participating companies and faculty members.
