On 12nd March 2018, Faculty of Management (FOM), Multimedia University (MMU) in collaboration with Innermetrix International UK, hosted the MMU International Forum 2018 with its theme ‘A New Era in Workforce Management’.
More than 180 participants from the public and private sector organisations, local and international, attended the forum at Double Tree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur. The international forum is to address issues faced by organisations in managing the multigenerational workforce in their workplace.
The forum started with a welcoming speech by Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin Ismail, Vice President of Academic and Internationalisation MMU; followed by the first keynote speech from Ybhg. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Ghazali Abas, Secretary General, Ministry of Human Resources, which was read by Pn. Hajah Paeza Rosdi, Deputy Director General, Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia, Ministry of Human Resources. The second keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Allan Miller, Managing Director of Innermetrix International. The highlight of the event was the exchange of MOU document between MMU and Innermetrix International. Among the invited guests were Mr. Nor Suhaimi Sulong; Acting Chief Human Capital Officer, Telekom Malaysia (TM) Berhad and Mr. Mohd. Amin Abdullah Sani, Senior Director, Human Capital Management MMU.
The MMU International Forum 2018 also serves as an avenue for collaborative network between academics and practitioners, both from local and international. There were two panel discussions whereby the panellists for the first panel discussion comprised senior management members who are directly involved with managing their multigenerational workforce in their organisations. Their discussions covered issue like challenges leaders have in managing the multigenerational workforce; policy and others. For the second panel discussion, the speakers were the millennials themselves. They raised interesting issues regarding millennials role in the workplace and many more.
