The present invention relates to a ground electrode suitable for use at low voltage low current and under high impulse condition. More particularly, the ground electrode comprises a conductive elongated core, and a porous body longitudinally surrounding the core in which the body is casted from a mixture of ground resistance reducing agent, aggregates, cementitious material and water so as to form air voids therein (see Figs 1a and 1b). Upon installation to the ground, the porous body allows ionisation to occur between soil in the ground and the air voids in the body thereby reducing impulse impedance when subjected to high impulse currents. |
