Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the faculty of engineering successfully organised the first Digital Futures International Congress (DIFCON 2021) in 21-23 June 2021.  DIFCON 2021 is an international conference held by MMU & Faculty of Engineering for researchers and scholars across the globe to present their research work and findings.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the faculty of engineering recently won the Top Research Scientist Malaysia 2020 Awards in 16 December 2020. The award is an initiative of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), which focuses on promoting a culture of excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). Through this award, which was launched in 2012, the academy aspired to identify outstanding Malaysian research scientists who possess mindsets in order to move the country forward to an innovation-led economy. For this year, the award honours 30 top outstanding scientists with excellent achievements in STI as well as have been nationally and internationally recognised.

Prof. Dr. Mohamad Yusoff Alias from the faculty of engineering recently received the IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor and Branch Chapter Advisor Award from IEEE Malaysia Section in October 2020.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the faculty of engineering recently received the Outstanding Researcher Award 2020 from IEEE VTS, USA.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the faculty of engineering recently received the IEEE Malaysia Outstanding Large Chapter Award.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the faculty of engineering recently won the Best Paper Award at International Appreciation from International Conference on Computer, Communication and Power Engineering (I3CPE19) in SASTRA University, India., 2019.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the faculty of engineering recently won the World Invention Special Award, Gold Innovator Award in South Korea, 25 – 27 July 2019. The project’s title is Real-time 4G/5G D2D Sensor and the project member consist of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee (project leader), Prof. Dr. Mohd Ridzuan Mokhtar, Mr. Khairil Anuar, and Dr. Azwan Mahmud.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the faculty of engineering was recently awarded the Excellent Researcher Award 2018 by Multimedia University (MMU) as an appreciation and acknowledgement of his outstanding achievements and contributions to the research environment. Earlier this year, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni also received the prestigious International Excellence in Creativity Award from the National Inventics Institute of Romania on 19th May 2018. Additionally, he is a registered Chartered Engineer with Engineering Council United Kingdom, and Member with The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK. His current research interests are wireless, mobile, IoT and radar. Please join us in congratulating Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni for his achievements.

On Thursday 15th November 2018, Centre for Wireless Technology (CWT) members have actively participated in the prestigious Research Innovation Commercialization & Entrepreneurship Showcase (RICES) event that was organized by Multimedia University (MMU); showing the recent technologies and research developments in their respective majors. Each of the CWT participants had an independent booth to present the current updates of the project they are working on. All the details about the participants’ projects can be found here.

We are really pleased in the Centre for Wireless Technology (CWT) to say the our member Mr. Muhammad Alhammami has successfully passed his Ph.D. viva examination.

Mr. Muhammad obtained his bachelor of engineering in 2004 in electronics and communications engineering from Damascus university, Syria. He also obtained his master of science in integrated systems and circuits design in 2010 from Carinthia University, Austria. Lastly, he has recently passed his viva on the thesis titled Vision-Based System For Child Abuse Action Recognition Using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).

During Mr. Muhammad’s Ph.D. candidature, he had authored and co-authored many publications in both English & Arabic language and attained various certificates. He also performed around 32 reviews for journals including IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology and other international conferences and colloquiums on Signal Processing, Computer Vision and Control.

Furthermore, Mr. Muhammad is a young motivated researcher who determined to enhance and extend the research environment and researchers reach around the globe. He also speaks four languages including Arabic, English fluently besides some German, and French.

CWT members are delighted to share the joy of Mr. Muhammad’s success and extend the warmest wishes of success in academical and social life.

The Centre of Wireless Technology (CWT) have hosted a visit by Prof. Gee-kung from School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering as a part of his visit to Multimedia University. Prof. Gee-Kung shared his work and his research ideas on how to improve the current modern communication technologies. The session was also graced by Telecom Malaysia Research and Development (TM R&D) members, Prof. Mohd Ridzuan Mokhtar drom Collaboration and Innovation Centre (CIC), Dr. Mardeni Roslee, Chairman of CWT, Dr. Zubaida Bt Yusoff from Faculty of Engineering, Fiber Optic Research Center (FORC), and many other CWT members. Furthermore, CWT members (Loay Ghassan, Muhammad Alhammami, and Abdul-Raqeeb Al-Hammadi) have presented and shared their research contributions with prof. Gee-Kung who have politely answered their questions and doubts and assisted them on how to deliver their results in the best expected way. Prof. Gee-Kung is also known for his wide contributions to the communication field as has been granted over 55 patents and co-authored more than 300 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in the areas of optoelectronic devices, high speed integrated circuits, telecommunication switching components and systems, WDM optical networking systems and networks, optical network security, optical label switching and optical interconnect technologies, TDM- and WDM-PONs, and radio-over-fiber and wireless-over-fiber systems and networks. He has also been an active contributor to many IEEE Photonics Society and Optical Society of America (OSA) sponsored journals, conferences, and committees. He has served five times as the lead guest editor for special issues of the Journal of Lightwave Technology (JLT) and Journal of Optical Communications and Networking (JOCN), sponsored by IEEE and/or OSA. The special issues include: Optical Networks published in 2000 by JLT, Metro and Access Networks published in 2004 by JLT, Convergence of Optical Wireless Access Network in 2007 by JLT, Radio-over-Optical Fiber Networks in 2008 by JOCN, and the most recent one on Very High Throughput Wireless over Fiber Technologies and Applications in 2010 by JLT.
