The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) is pleased to announce the 2020 (Cycle 2) Call for Applications of;
- MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSITY STARTUP & SPIN-OFF SCHEME
- TABUNG AMANAH ZAKAT (TAZ) AS SIDDIQ FUND
The schemes were introduced to drive the initiative to nurture entrepreneurship among students of Multimedia University (MMU) by providing financial support for the pre-seed and seed stages of startup. This cycle is opened to ALL MMU students. Team must nominate an academic staff with relevant expertise as project mentor. Teams can apply for funding amount per project up to RM35,000 for a duration of 12 months (award will be based on the merits of the proposals). Furthermore, all types of innovative entrepreneurial venture ideas are welcomed to apply including technopreneur, creative contentpreneur, socialpreneur, etc.

Definition of StartUp: A company founded by the University Student(s) that does not relate to any business or research activity of the University.
Definition of Spin-Off: A business venture founded by the University Employee(s), or Student(s) that is formed around
l) exploitation of any Intellectual Property arising within the University;
ll) use of any technological resource/facility provided by the University,
lll) any business or research activity of the University. (Intellectual Property arising within the University – includes work by student(s) submitted for assessment in an academic programme such as coursework, final year project, dissertation, thesis, etc.)
The As-Siddiq Fund is introduced to drive the initiative to nurture entrepreneurship among Asnaf students of Multimedia University (MMU) by providing financial support for the pre-seed and seed stages of startup using Tabung Amanah Zakat.
In order to qualify to apply for the scheme, the team must participate in Virtual Bootcamp organised by EDC. The date is 13th July 2020.
