Understanding Colored Brain and Effective Communication

Effective communication is the cornerstone of successful interactions, whether in personal relationships, professional environments, or educational settings. On 15 October 2024, Dr. Susan Chin, an academic staff member from the Faculty of Business (FOB), conducted a session on the Colored Brain for employees of 9R Leisure Sdn Bhd. The session was attended by Mr. Terry Swee, the Group General Manager and one of our successful Permata Dunia in the business arena.

In her session, Dr. Susan elaborated on the Colored Brain framework, which helps individuals understand different communication styles. Developed by Arthur Carmazzi, this model enables individuals to adjust their communication styles to better connect with others. Recognising your own thinking style, as well as that of others, can facilitate more effective interactions. This awareness allows individuals to tailor messages to resonate with the listener’s preferences.

Moreover, the Colored Brain model provides valuable insights into how different thinking styles influence communication. By understanding and respecting these differences, individuals can enhance their interactions, foster collaboration, and create more effective communication strategies. Ultimately, embracing diversity of thought not only improves personal relationships but also boosts the overall effectiveness of teams and organizations.

The session received positive feedback, as participants gained valuable knowledge and practical tips on how to deliver more effective communication.
