Students Engage with Environmental Preservation Activity

On 9 January 2024, a group of 14 students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) embarked on a Public Service Responsibility (PSR) project at the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre in Melaka.  Accompanied by their advisor, Ms. Siti Zarifah Amir, the activity commenced with an enlightening briefing session by the staff. The students gained valuable insights about turtle conservation efforts and the crucial role played by the centre in safeguarding marine life.

They also were captivated by the new knowledge on the challenges faced by sea turtles and the importance of maintaining a healthy environment for their survival. Following the briefing, the students actively participated in a hands-on conservation effort, where the first task involved cleaning the turtle pond meticulously, ensuring a conducive habitat for the resident turtles.

Armed with determination and eco-friendly tools, the students worked together to remove debris, ensuring the pond remains a safe and clean haven for these majestic creatures. Not stopping at pond maintenance, the team extended their efforts to the surrounding area, diligently collecting litter that had accumulated in the vicinity of the conversation center. The students demonstrated not only their commitment to the environment but also their understanding of the interconnectedness between a clean habitat and the well-being of the marine life it supports.
