Let us extend our heartiest congratulations to Ong Yong Xun, a student from the Faculty of Management (FOM), for winning the Best Speaker Award for Malaysia at the ICAEW Regional Business Challenge held in Jakarta on 11 May 2024. This prestigious event also saw the participation of five other talented students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) and FOM: Viajiyalatchmy, Fu Yu Harn, Ahmad Fawwaz, Lim Jing Yi, and Er Wan Ni.

Mentored by Dr. Tan Pei Kian from FOB, the MMU team, named Money Minion, competed against 11 teams from various countries, including China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Although our students did not clinch the top spot, their performances were commendable, and the experience provided invaluable learning opportunities.

The MMU team was selected based on their outstanding track records in competitions, extensive involvement in extracurricular activities, and remarkable academic achievements. They represented a blend of diverse talents and underwent rigorous preparation, including multiple three-hour training sessions both offline and online. These sessions, designed as mock competitions, focused on pertinent topics such as technology sustainability and contemporary business issues, meticulously chosen to enhance the team’s readiness.

Reflecting on their journey, the students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Malaysia on an international stage and highlighted the wealth of knowledge gained through the competition. Their journey exemplifies MMU’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to excel in the global arena.
