On 5 December 2024, the MMU team achieved remarkable success, earning two Gold Awards in the Institut Pengajian Tinggi (IPT) category at the inaugural Hari Inovasi Negeri Melaka 2024, held at Dewan UTeM 1, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. Representing the university were Mr. Vincent Chan from the Faculty of Business (FOB) and his student, Alyssa Amir Binti Amirrudin. Their innovative projects stood out among 120 entries. Adding to this remarkable achievement, Mr. Vincent’s mentee, who is the team leader from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Ayer Keroh, Nur Irdina Qaisara Shamsul Fakhar, brought home a Gold Award and was announced as the champion for the school category.

Themed “Pemerkasaan Budaya Inovasi Pemangkin Masyarakat”, the event aimed to foster holistic and strategic community involvement while promoting impactful innovations. Organised by the Melaka State Government, the program highlighted diverse talent and creativity from participants representing higher education institutions, government agencies, and schools.

State Exco for Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Communication, Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, commended the overwhelming participation, which included 23 entries from higher education institutions, 38 from agencies, 33 from secondary schools, and 26 from primary schools. The event was graced by notable figures, including Deputy State Exco Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem, UTeM Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Ghazali Omar, and RICE Melaka of UTeM Director Prof. Ts. Dr. Effendi Mohamad.
