Obtaining Insights on Academic Publishing
On 13 September 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamil Pícha from the Faculty of Economics of University of South Bohemia, Czech Republic, was invited to deliver a talk on “Academic Publishing: Ways and Environment” at the Melaka campus. Hosted by the Center of E- Services, Entrepreneurship and Marketing (CESEM) of the Faculty of Business (FOB), the event convened a diverse audience, including lecturers, postgraduate students, and external participants.
The event unfolded in a hybrid format, seamlessly combining online engagement through Google Meet with a physical classroom setting at the faculty. This hybrid approach helps to transcend geographical boundaries and unite scholars from diverse backgrounds, enriching the dialogue on academic publishing. Dr. Pícha’s talk was remarkable. As an Associate Professor and the Editor-in-Chief of the Deturope journal, his reputation in the realm of academic publishing precedes him. Additionally, his roles on the editorial boards of several prestigious scientific journals and his extensive experience as a reviewer make him a luminary in the academic community.
Attendees received valuable guidance on providing constructive feedback, thus enhancing the quality of the academic publishing process. Dr. Pícha shared best practises, empowering researchers with the tools to navigate this vital step in their academic journey. The session concluded with a comprehensive discussion on the coveted Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases. It is hoped that the attendees will receive invaluable knowledge for their growth and enlightenment in the field of academic publishing.
