MMU community is delighted to welcome Prof. Datuk Dr. Syed Othman Hussin Alhabshi as the newly-appointed member of the Board of Governance (BOG), recently. Prof. Syed Othman who is also one of the leading scholars of Islamic Finance in Malaysia, received a warm reception from MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, and MMU leaders in his first official visit to MMU Cyberjaya campus on the 11th March 2021.

In his welcoming remark, Prof. Mazliham elaborated on MMU’s journey as one of the leading private universities in Malaysia. Then, Prof. Syed Othman shared his insights on the development of several higher education institutions in Malaysia as well as some potential of endowments for the university. Before the visit session ended, Prof. Syed Othman was also given a short campus tour.

Prof. Syed Othman has served in various academic capacities in several prominent universities namely Universiti of Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He was the Founding President and CEO of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), former Board of Director at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and former Deputy President (Academic) at the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF).
