FET Team Wins At Wsis Forum 2018 In Geneva
Awarded The Winner & Champion Prizes At The World Summit On The Information Society In Ict Applications: E-Science Category A team from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology was awarded the Winner and Champion prizes at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2018 in “ICT Applications: E-Science” category. The event was held from 21st to 24th March at Geneva, Switzerland. WSIS Forum 2018 is organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), an agency of the United Nations (UN) whose purpose is to coordinate telecommunication operations and services throughout the world. The awards were presented by ITU’s Secretary-general, Mr.Haolin Zhao. The FET team’s project was Development of PC-based Color Code System and Multi-modal Platform for Image Noise Filtering Using Single Image Signal-to-Noise Ratio Estimation. Team members were Ir. Prof. Dr. Sim Kok Swee, Ms. Ting Fung Fung, and Mr. Lim Zheng You. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fazly Salleh Abas, Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, represented MMU to receive these two prestigious awards. WSIS and ITU serve as a combined platform to evaluate and recognize individuals, governments, civil society, local, regional and international agencies, research institutions and private sector companies for outstanding success in implementing development-oriented strategies that leverage the power of ICTs.
