FET Professor, Ir. Prof. Dr. Sim Kok Swee and his team were awarded the “Highly Commended” Award in the 2018 IET Innovation Award for Information Technology, hosted by Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) United Kingdom (UK) in London. This award carries good name to Multimedia University (MMU) and TM as the selection process for the award was quite tedious and also involved projects from top universities around the world.

The aim of this award is to reward pioneering innovations in science, engineering and technology. The project “Early Infact Detection through Medical Images” was granted the award in the “Information Technology” category. It is hoped that this success will open up new opportunities for more innovative solutions and to establish research relations from among local researchers and global experts in biomedical image analysis. Prof Sim led his postgraduate students namely Ting Fung Fung and Lim Zheng for this project.
